Q: What are IMPA Tech’s outreach activities?
A: These are academic initiatives that connect teaching and research with the demands of society, through projects, courses, events and partnerships.

Q: Who can take part in extension activities?
A: The activities are open to the general public, but each activity has its own entry forms and periods. See the list of activities below to find out more.

Q: How can external institutions collaborate?
A: Partnerships can be established by proposing joint projects or participating in existing initiatives, through coordination with IMPA Tech.

Q: Do the activities generate certificates?
A: Yes, activities carried out within the scope of IMPA Tech and approved institutionally can generate certificates for the organizers and participants.

General Instructions

For students:

  • Complete a minimum of 310 hours as an organizer throughout the course.
  • Periodically request that the hours be recorded on the school transcript
  • Guarantee supporting documentation for the activities carried out.

For teachers:

  • Proposing and registering activities in the institutional system.
  • Ensure adherence to the extension guidelines(CNE/CES Resolution No. 7/2018).
  • Submit period and final reports.
  • Inform organizing students and their respective workloads.
  • Accompanying and guiding the students involved.

impatecode

Orientador(es): Uéverton dos Santos Souza
Impatecode is IMPA Tech's initiative aimed at preparing students for university programming marathons, by teaching them algorithms - from the basics to the most advanced - and holding frequent mock exams. In addition to the university audience, the project also prepares primary and secondary school students for the IT Olympiads, opening doors to various opportunities, such as entry to IMPA Tech itself via Olympic vacancies.

IMPA Tech Scientific Seminars

IMPA Tech's Scientific Seminars promote scientific dissemination and academic dialog through seminars given by specialists from different areas of mathematics, physics, computing and related fields, open to the academic and external community. The project seeks to promote interaction between researchers and the public, encouraging active participation, the exchange of experiences and the broadening of participants' scientific repertoire.

Events

IMPA Tech Open Doors

Orientador(es): Nara Bobko
IMPA Tech Open Doors (ITPA) aims to bring the external community closer to the institute, offering visitors the opportunity to get to know its facilities and the structure of the Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation. During the event, participants will be able to explore the spaces, talk to managers, interact with students and ask questions about the course and the activities developed at IMPA Tech.

IMPA Tech MUN

Orientador(es): Rafael Luis Beraldo
IMPA Tech Model United Nations, or simply IMPA Tech MUN, is an outreach project that prepares undergraduate students to debate science, technology and innovation issues through diplomatic simulations in the Model United Nations format. As a culminating activity, it organizes an open academic event where participants exercise argumentation, negotiation and leadership in interdisciplinary committees.

Integrating Project

Projeto Integrando is an online platform that connects high school and college students from all over Brazil with IMPA Tech students through live mentoring and tutoring and the exchange of experiences aimed at developing skills in mathematics, computer science, data science and physics.
