The IMPA Tech selection process takes place once a year and is divided into two stages. The first stage takes into account the students’ performance in the knowledge Olympiads listed below or in the Enem (National High School Exam) Mathematics test.
- OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Math Olympics) / Level 3;
- OBM (Brazilian Math Olympics) / Level 3;
- OBFEP (Brazilian Public School Physics Olympiad) / National Awards at levels B and/or C
- OBQ (Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad) / Modalities A and/or B and
- OBI (Brazilian Computer Olympics) / Programming Modality at levels 1 and/or 2, only at high school level.
The second phase of the selection process included group activities and individual interviews (online).
Gold OBMEP / OBM – 18 points
Silver OBMEP / OBM – 6 points
Bronze OBMEP / OBM – 2 points
Gold OBFEP / OBQ / OBI – 9 points
Silver OBFEP / OBQ / OBI – 3 points
Bronze OBFEP / OBQ / OBI – 1 point
Up to 100 places are available for students from all over Brazil. The notice provides for 80% of the places for medal winners in scientific competitions and 20% for Enem candidates.
No. When registering, candidates must choose one of the systems set out in the public notice: Olympiad or Enem.
Yes. Of the 100 places available, 50 are earmarked for women, affirmative action and students who have attended secondary school in the public school system. The other 50 places are open to all. Check out the details of the distribution in Notice 2025.
IMPA Tech provides airfare and/or ground transportation for students enrolled for the start of the academic year in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
