Applications open for the second edition of ‘IMPA Tech Portas Abertas’ (IMPA Tech Open Doors)
Free event for the general public on June 13 at Maravalley Port
Applications for the second edition of “IMPA Tech Open Doors” are now open. Free of charge and aimed at the general public, especially high school students and their families, the event will be held on Saturday, June 13. The initiative offers visitors the chance to get to know the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation and enjoy the activities. Registration is individual and must be done through event page.
As in the previous edition – which brought together more than 120 visitors to Port Maravalley – participants will be welcomed with a guided tour of the college’s facilities, including classrooms, computer and physics laboratories and the library. The talk “What is IMPA Tech?” will present the students’ daily lives, the curriculum structure, the benefits offered and the program’s differentials.
Among the attractions are workshops led by IMPA Tech undergraduates, focusing on the four emphases: Mathematics, Data Science, Physics and Computer Science. During the activities, visitors will be able to ask questions about the areas, learn about the possibilities for academic careers and explore career prospects.
“The success of the first edition of IMPA Tech Portas Abertas showed the initiative’s potential to promote integration with the external community, as well as providing a very rich interaction with our students. This second edition reinforces this purpose, consolidating the event as an opportunity for students from basic education to get to know the institution better, ask questions and get closer to the academic environment,” said Nara Bobko, the undergraduate academic manager.
IMPA Tech is located in Porto Maravalley, a technological hub in Rio de Janeiro that currently brings together 107 companies, including startups, corporations, investors and government initiatives. In this environment, students are trained in a dynamic and innovative context. Located in the city’s port region, the space seeks to integrate academia, government and the private sector in order to consolidate Rio as a global reference in technology.
How to register
Registration is individual and open until June 1st, using the form online. To organize the flow of visitors, two shifts will be offered: at 8.30am and 1.30pm, with 100 places in each session.
Schools can also take part, on a voluntary basis, but each visitor must register themselves. IMPA Tech is located at Av. Professor Pereira Reis, 76, Santo Cristo, in Rio de Janeiro. There will be no transportation or parking available for the event. Questions can be sent to faleconosco@impatech.edu.br.
IMPA Tech Portas Abertas” is inspired by the program “IMPA Open Doors“, held at the institute’s headquarters in the Botanical Garden. The initiative seeks to take mathematics beyond academic walls, promoting educational, inclusive and interactive experiences.
