The Behring Foundation will award 10 more R$ 900 scholarships to medal winners from any edition of the OBMEP (Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad for Public Schools) starting at a federal or state public university. The aim of the program is to offer support for talented young people to attend university. Applications for the “Fundação Behring-OBMEP Tech Scholarship” are open until May 10.
The process must be carried out on the “Bolsa Tech Fundação Behring-OBMEP“ portal and candidates must pay attention to the documentation required by the regulations. To take part, students must be entering university in the same year as their application to the program. The results of the selection process will be published on the same page on May 27.
The ten scholarships awarded by the Behring Foundation last for 12 months, are renewable annually up to a limit of 60 months and are subject to an evaluation of the scholarship student’s performance at the university.
Students can take part if they are studying in the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Systems Analysis and Development, Information Systems, Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Technology and courses related to the computing sector.
Selection process
An Evaluation Committee will select and evaluate the candidates. Among the criteria are: performance in Enem and OBMEP, as well as academic record. The family’s socio-economic situation will also be analyzed. Selected candidates will have from May 29 to June 2 to send the other documents required to complete the process via the website.
The Behring Foundation is a non-profit family foundation with the aim of supporting people and social initiatives committed to leveraging the potential of young people to transform society. The partnership between the foundation and OBMEP began last year, when 25 scholarships of R$900 were awarded to medal winners of the Olympiad who entered public universities.
OBMEP also maintains similar partnerships with IHS-Tower and Ciência Pioneira. Both initiatives also offer scholarships of R$900 to medal winners in the science competition who entered public university last year.
