The financial journey is back at Porto Maravalley. After the success of the first edition of the cycle of lectures held with the 2024 class, it was the freshmen’s turn to learn a little more about budget organization from financial expert Sebastião Campos Júnior. The activity “Do you want to have more peace of mind when dealing with your money?” was promoted by the undergraduate Careers and Internships Center (NCE) in two meetings: this Monday (26) and Wednesday (28).
At first, Sebastião spoke about the importance of organizing oneself financially and mapping out one’s income and expenditure, increasing self-responsibility and awareness of the flow of money, regardless of the amount. The idea was to show the students that it is possible to save money and take control of their finances once and for all.
“Many people only worry about how much they earn, when in fact what really makes a difference is how much they spend,” Sebastião said.
To materialize the ideas of the chat, the speaker promoted a practical dynamic. Divided into small groups, the undergraduates had to make adjustments to the budgets of fictional characters with different lifestyles and spending habits, always seeking a balance between needs, savings and leisure.

In the second meeting, the focus was on organizing goals for the future. Planning financial goals and protecting the money already raised were the topics covered in Sebastião’s talk. He also discussed some more conservative investment possibilities for beginners in the area.
Student Micaele Brandão was very enthusiastic about the activity. “When I heard that we were going to have meetings on finance, I was very excited because I really like this subject and I really wanted to know how I can improve my organization and I want to start applying it. I had no idea of the difference between the types of investment and I already have some plans,” she said.
For the student, the impact of the activity was immediate. “I changed my habits very quickly. On the Monday after the first meeting, I started writing down my expenses and made a spreadsheet to keep track of my goals.”
The financial journey is part of a knowledge trail organized by the NCE for the 2025 class. Micaele has participated in all the activities and is excited about the next one, which has already been scheduled for June 5. The meeting will cover assertive and effective communication as a soft skill applied to the demands of the job market.
“I think it will help me a lot. With college and studies, we end up leaving these areas aside, but since they are proposing these meetings, we are motivated to organize ourselves and improve our skills,” she concluded.
