Magic, good humor and technology came together this Saturday (26) at the Casa Grande Theater, in Shopping Leblon, to delight the IMPA Tech students. Henry Vargas and Klauss Durães, considered the greatest illusionists in Latin America, showed how logic can surprise and amuse. Through magic and tricks, participants could also see practical applications of mathematical logic.
For student Bianca Moreno, the show was incredible. “It was great fun not only to see the magic, but also to try and guess how things work. Some of the acts used very interesting algorithms and I was fascinated. Their title of being super-famous illusionists is really well-deserved because it was very cool and very funny.”
The cultural activity is part of the program of external events promoted by IMPA Tech’s Psychopedagogical Support Center (NAP). “The opportunities offered by NAP are very good. Every time there’s an activity, I sign up because I think it’s a lot of fun. As well as enjoying the show, it’s a chance to go for a walk and get out of the routine,” added Bianca.

Student Tiago Ribeiro emphasized the possibility of strengthening ties with classmates outside the academic environment. “I had no idea it would be so cool. We went to the show together, walked around the mall and then cycled back to IMPA Tech. It was great, especially because we could watch the play free of charge and meet up with friends.”
Student Davi Pestana highlighted the humorous nature of the performance. “The show was a real spectacle. In addition to the magic tricks, the illusionists told sensational jokes. They made jokes with the audience that went beyond magic tricks.”

For Davi, the show was also a chance to see the unconventional applications of mathematics. “There was a specific number that was purely mathematical logic. The IMPA Tech students, halfway through, realized what was going to happen, but we were still wondering how the magicians did it, because it was so impressive.”
NAP coordinator Cristina Ramos said that she is planning new events for the young people at IMPA Tech. “It was a very pleasant afternoon. May we have many more meetings as joyful as this one!”
Henry and Klauss are touring the country. In Rio de Janeiro, the performances take place until May 11. The illusionists will then travel to seven other Brazilian states.
