IMPA’s director-general, Marcelo Viana, and members of IMPA Tech’s academic and administrative team visited the Ilum School of Science and CNPEM (National Center for Research in Energy and Materials) in Campinas (SP) on Monday (27). The group was welcomed by the director-general of CNPEM, José Roque, and the director of Ilum, Adalberto Fazzio.
Ilum School of Science is a science and technology undergraduate program linked to CNPEM. Like IMPA Tech, it offers interdisciplinary teaching. The meeting served as a way of exchanging experiences between the administrative and academic teams of the two degree programs, who are planning joint projects for the future.
“Ilum is one of the main sources of inspiration for IMPA Tech. Through this visit, we aim to deepen a fruitful cooperation and a student exchange protocol between the two schools,” said Viana.
In addition to IMPA’s director-general, the meeting was attended by Francisco Silva, IMPA Tech’s administrative manager, Adriano Basilo and Kátia Coutinho, respectively academic manager and teaching coordinator of the institute’s undergraduate program.

The group visited Ilum’s facilities and CNPEM’s laboratories, which are a reference for research into health, renewable energy, agro-environmental sciences, renewable materials and quantum technologies. They also visited Sirius, one of the most modern electron accelerators in the world, which is located at the research center.
