IMPA Tech and MAG sign partnership to train talent
The company now contributes to academic initiatives in undergraduate technology
O IMPA Tech, an undergraduate program of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), announces a partnership with the MAG Group, a company with 191 years of uninterrupted activity in the life and pension segments. The company is now supporting the institution’s academic initiatives and other activities that bring students from the Bachelor of Mathematics in Technology and Innovation closer to the job market.
One of the planned actions will be the Industrial ChallengeThe hackathon, which mobilizes students to solve real challenges in the sector. The activities are structured in the format of an extended hackathon, in which groups of six to ten students dedicate eight weeks to developing projects. The work will be supervised by a professor from the institute and a company representative. The next edition of the event is scheduled for early 2027.
The MAG Group will also have access to the institution’s Careers and Internships Center (NCE) to give lectures, publicize professional opportunities and take part in the internship fair, and will be able to customize a classroom for a period of one year. In addition, the partnership will provide content, lectures and activities on financial planning, longevity and personal development, themes that are in line with the company’s historical work in promoting a culture of financial protection and preparation for the future.
Contributing to the future
Located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub in Rio de Janeiro’s port region, IMPA Tech is the first degree offered by the institute and brings together selected students from all over Brazil. The bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Technology and Innovation is in person, full-time and completely free of charge, with interdisciplinary training. The degree lasts four years, with a one-year basic cycle followed by the choice of one of four emphases: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science and Physics.
“Proximity to the productive sector, both public and private, is a strategic priority for IMPA Tech, aimed at both the production and transfer of mathematical knowledge to society and the future insertion of our students in the job market,” says Marcelo Viana, IMPA’s director-general.
“The partnership with IMPA Tech reflects much of what we believe in at MAG. Innovation is part of our DNA and investing in education and environments that stimulate new ideas is a concrete way of contributing to the future. At the same time, we believe that, even in an increasingly technological scenario, it’s people who make the difference. Being close to young talent, understanding their paths and supporting their training is also a way of reinforcing our long-term commitment to those who build the future,” says Luís Fontes, Director of Information Technology at MAG Group.
The collaboration reinforces the commitment of the institution and the company to developing talent and encouraging education as an engine for social and economic transformation in the country.
