IMPA Tech Expands Its Relationships with International Institutions
French and German representatives visited the undergraduate campus
In recent weeks, IMPA Tech has hosted representatives from academic and scientific institutions in France and Germany at meetings aimed at introducing the institutions and identifying potential opportunities for international cooperation.
The director of the Institut DataIA Paris-Saclay, Frédéric Pascal, and the institution’s executive director, Lucas Tourny, visited the undergraduate campus on September 2 at Porto Maravalley. Vincent Brignol, Science and Technology Attaché at the Consulate General of France in Rio de Janeiro, also attended the meeting.
The institute is a multidisciplinary organization affiliated with the Université Paris-Saclay, one of France’s leading educational and research institutions, and is internationally renowned in the fields of mathematics, physics, and the natural sciences. The Institut DataIA is dedicated to research, education, and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science.
During the meeting, the activities of IMPA, IMPA Tech, and Centro Pi (IMPA Center for Projects and Innovation) were presented, along with projects developed in the fields of AI and health. Participants in the meeting included IMPA Deputy Director Jorge Vitório; IMPA Tech Academic Manager Nara Bobko; Centro Pi Technology Projects Manager Lucas Nissenbaum; Internationalization and Outreach Coordinator Carolina Magalhães; and researcher Roberto Imbuzeiro.
On September 9, Christian Lazar, a representative of the Freie Universität Berlin through the German Center for Science and Innovation (DWIH) in São Paulo, and Barbara Fritz, the university’s vice president for international affairs, were welcomed at IMPA Tech. The meeting, led by Nara and Carolina, aimed to introduce the two institutions and discuss possibilities for collaboration and cooperation.

Freie Universität Berlin has been seeking to expand its partnerships with Brazilian institutions and is a leader in various fields of study, including mathematics. The university is a member of MATH+, a Cluster of Excellence dedicated to mathematical research, which brings together scientific institutions in Berlin.
“IMPA Tech’s collaboration with international academic and scientific institutions strengthens the internationalization of undergraduate programs and the institutions themselves. The exchange of experiences and perspectives, as well as exposure to different cultures and ways of building knowledge, directly or indirectly enriches students’ education while also fostering the development of collaborative networks,” noted Nara Bobko.
The agenda reinforces the institute’s strategy of expanding connections with internationally renowned institutions and creating new opportunities for academic exchange, research, and collaboration.
