21/1/25
The Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) released on Tuesday (21) the list of the 360 candidates classified for the 2nd phase of the selection process for IMPA Tech, the institute’s undergraduate program. There are 100 places available for the bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Technology and Innovation. Check out the list here.
The selected students move on to the second stage of the selection process, which takes place between January 25 and 29. This stage consists of individual and group interviews, which seek to identify essential skills for the position. The final result will be announced on February 3 and the registration period will take place between February 10 and 13.
The first phase of the selection analyzed the candidates’ performance in five knowledge olympiads (OBMEP – Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad; OBM – Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad; OBFEP – Brazilian Public School Physics Olympiad; OBQ – Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad and OBI – Brazilian Computer Science Olympiad) or the score of the Enem mathematics test. IMPA Tech allocates places to the general public and provides a reserve for candidates from different quota groups, as detailed in the notice.
The degree has been offered by IMPA since last year at Porto Maravalley in Rio de Janeiro. Funded by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC), IMPA Tech offers quality higher education free of charge.
With the aim of bringing together the best students in Brazil, in a partnership with Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the older students will be provided with accommodation and financial aid. IMPA is also guaranteeing plane tickets to the capital of Rio de Janeiro for the start of the academic year.
IMPA Tech has an innovative proposal to train highly qualified professionals for the technology job market. Students will complete a basic cycle and then choose between four emphases: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science and Physics.
IMPA Tech’s location is another differentiator. The school is located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub created by Rio City Hall in the port area to house companies and startups.
