IMPA Tech releases list of students approved for new class
Selected candidates must register between February 9th and 13th
IMPA Tech, the undergraduate program of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA), announced on Friday (6) the list of the 100 successful candidates for the new class of the bachelor’s degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation. The higher education course takes place in person in Rio de Janeiro, full time and 100% free of charge. Check here the full list of classified candidates.
To secure a place on the bachelor’s course, students must send the documentation required in the noticeincluding academic transcripts and high school leaving certificates, between February 9 and 13. The registration period closes at 5pm on February 13. Any questions should be sent to inscricao@impatech.edu.br.
IMPA Tech allocates places to the general public and provides a reserve for candidates from different quota groups, as detailed in the notice. The selection process took into account the candidates’ performance in different levels of five knowledge olympiads: OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad); OBM (Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad); OBFEP (Brazilian Public School Physics Olympiad); OBQ (Brazilian Chemistry Olympiad) and OBI (Brazilian Computer Science Olympiad); or in the mathematics grade in the Enem (National High School Exam). In the second phase of the process, candidates took part in virtual interviews.
Inaugurated in April 2024, IMPA Tech is an innovative initiative that seeks to train highly qualified professionals in mathematics and technology for the job market. The degree is funded by Federal Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC). As well as providing free, quality higher education, the program offers financial aid and student accommodation for people over 18, in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro City Council. IMPA also guarantees airfare to the capital of Rio de Janeiro for the start of the academic year.
Classes start in March
With classes due to start on March 16, students will begin their bachelor’s degree with a one-year basic cycle. Subsequently, they will have to choose between four emphases: Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science and Physics. The interdisciplinary curriculum guarantees plenty of practical activities right from the start of the degree, divided into classrooms and computer and physics laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment.
IMPA Tech is located in Porto Maravalley, a technology hub created by Rio City Hall in the port area, which has 70 companies and 45 resident startups. The space seeks to integrate academia, government, the private sector and the innovation ecosystem to consolidate Rio as a global reference in technology.
