‘Integrating’: extension project offers free tutoring
Undergraduates answer questions from the community about math, physics, data and computing

With the aim of bringing students together and sharing knowledge, IMPA Tech has created the IntegratingThis is an extension project that offers free online tutoring led by undergraduates from the Technology and Innovation Mathematics bachelor’s degree program. The initiative serves high school and undergraduate students from all over Brazil, with meetings focused on Mathematics, Physics, Data Science and Computer Science.
Anderson Aquiles is the president of the project’s board of directors, which has already offered 80 tutorials in two months of operation. “The feeling is one of deep satisfaction at helping those who need and want to learn. I very much hope that, in the future, the project can grow even more and bring knowledge to students who really want it,” he said.
To join the community and schedule a tutoring session, you need to register on the the project’s official website. After registering, you can choose the topic and time of the meeting. The collaborative learning environment is 100% taught by undergraduates, coordinated by Professor Cláudio Lenz.
Student Lucas Paulo is one of the 74 tutors registered with Integrando, and is pleased with the interaction between the participants. “Being able to help other students from other places with their difficulties makes me happy and motivates me to keep learning. It’s also an opportunity to revise older content, which is very useful in a more advanced math course. During the meetings, we work on what the student says they need: answering questions, having a lecture, etc., always trying to develop the necessary intuition. In general, we try to discuss the topic, give an overview of the content and solve questions on the topic,” he said.
Renan de Paula, 15, a 1st year high school student in Barras (PI), found out about the extension project through a group of friends and has since taken part in tutorials on functions and progressions, equations and inequalities, set theory and plane and spatial geometry. “The meetings went beyond my expectations. The tutors showed me the subject and answered my questions very easily. I think the project is incredible, it really helps those who want to have a differentiated and more specialized class,” she said.
In addition to answering questions about subjects in the bachelor’s degree program, those interested can also schedule a tutoring session to learn more about day-to-day studies at Porto Maravalley, the curriculum and the opportunities offered by IMPA’s undergraduate program. Renan is an OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Mathematical Olympiad) medalist and wants to be an IMPA Tech student in the future. “One of my goals is to be there in the future. I’m preparing for the 2nd phase of this year’s OBMEP, and I hope to win enough medals to be able to go on to graduate school,” he said.
Selection process 2026
Applications for the new Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics of Technology and Innovation open on Monday (3) at 9 a.m. at impatech.edu.br.. Up to 100 places will be offered to young people from all over Brazil who have already finished high school. The selection process is based on scientific olympiads or math scores from Enem. The second phase involves individual online interviews. Check out the full announcement.
