After classes, IMPA Tech students attended a talk on mental and physical health on Tuesday (18) organized by the undergraduate Psychopedagogical Support Center (NAP). The guest was physical education and yoga teacher Adriana Camargo, who held a practical stretching class after the talk at Porto Maravalley.
Adriana emphasized the importance of physical activity and a balanced diet to maintain good mental health. “It’s about living with quality, living well. Health is priceless, but when you don’t have it, it costs a lot. The biggest saving you can make is to take care of your health from now on,” she warned.
In the IMPA Tech auditorium, the Mathematics of Technology and Innovation students understood the importance of building good habits and taking advantage of cerebral neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt, in favor of health. “When physical activity becomes a habit, you miss it. The important thing is to start, even if it’s little by little. The great pandemic of our times is obesity. Let’s take care of ourselves!” said Adriana.

Student Isabelli Cristhini, 21, thought the initiative was great. “It’s very easy to forget to take care of our health, because we’re almost always sitting down, fiddling with papers, and we end up forgetting to activate our bodies. I remembered that it’s important to improve my diet and take more care of myself, because all of this will have an impact on the future.”
After the chat, Adriana held a practical yoga class focused on breathing and relaxing the body. “Yoga is very good! It helps with anxiety and improves focus on breathing! It’s been a long time since I’ve done something like this. It was great fun!” concluded Isabelli.
Anderson Aquiles de Souza, an 18-year-old student from São Vicente Ferrer (PE), tried the activity for the first time and loved it. “I learned things about our own bodies that will help me in the future. It’s the kind of knowledge we should also seek out,” he said
