Representatives of the Ministry of Education visit IMPA and IMPA Tech
MEC delegation visited Maravalley Port and Botanical Garden headquarters

On Monday (2), representatives of the Ministry of Education (MEC) visited IMPA’s headquarters in Jardim Botânico and the undergraduate campus, IMPA Tech, in Porto Maravalley, in Rio de Janeiro’s port area. The delegation was received by IMPA’s director-general, Marcelo Viana.
Participating in the visit were Jussara de Luna Batista, program director of the executive secretariat; Tânia Mara Francisco, development director of the network of federal higher education institutions; Jaqueline Ribeiro Silva, project manager of the executive secretariat; Aldous Pereira Albuquerque, general coordinator of planning and budgeting for federal higher education institutions; Luiz Paulo Martins de Lima, project coordinator of the executive secretariat; and Edinaldo Camelo Paiva, project coordinator of the basic education secretariat.
Inaugurated this year, IMPA Tech was the first place to visit. In addition to Viana, Manuela Cervo, IMPA’s administrative manager, Asla Sá, IMPA Tech’s academic manager, Francisco dos Santos Silva, IMPA Tech’s administrative and financial manager, and Cirlei Oliveira, IMPA Tech’s regulation and processes coordinator, welcomed the delegation and gave them a tour of the degree’s facilities. The bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Technology and Innovation is funded by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).
In the afternoon, the MEC representatives went to IMPA’s headquarters in the south of Rio de Janeiro. There, they also met the team that coordinates the OBMEP (Brazilian Public School Math Olympics), which has been run by the institute since 2005.
