Talks and lectures on physical and mental health were also part of the after-school activities for students on the Technology and Innovation bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Anxiety, the importance of physical activity, a balanced diet and organizing a study routine were some of the topics on the agenda at the meetings organized by the Psychopedagogical Support Center (NAP) throughout the year.
Lecture with physical education teacher Adriana Camargo – June/2024

The guest spoke to the students about the importance of building good habits and taking advantage of cerebral neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt, in favor of physical and mental health. After the talk, Adriana gave the students a practical yoga class focused on breathing and relaxing the body.
Student Anderson Aquiles de Souza tried the activity for the first time and loved it. “I learned things about our own bodies that will help me in the future. It’s the kind of knowledge we should also seek out,” he said.
Chat with psychologist Mônica Silva – August/2024

The meeting “Social Skills, Mental Health and Bullying” with psychologist Mônica Silva sought to show students how the acquisition and practice of social skills is fundamental for maintaining and improving mental health.
During the talk, the psychological effects and damage caused by prejudice, bullying and the difficulties faced in cases of significant change, such as the transition from secondary to higher education, were addressed.
“The chat created an opportunity for us to better understand the effects of the psychological difficulties we face. Becoming aware of this is important in order to put ourselves in the shoes of other colleagues and treat possible problems, such as anxiety,” said student Pedro Henrique Barbosa.
Cristina Ramos, NAP coordinator, emphasized the importance of dialogue to improve coexistence among students. “NAP supports this space as a way of reflecting on a better understanding of the issues of coexistence, mental health and respect,” she said.
Chat with psychologist Andrea Lucena – September/2024

How to deal with anxiety? What to do when you feel anxious? To try to answer these questions, psychologist and lecturer Andréa Lucena was invited to educate and raise awareness among students about anxiety and provide tools and resources to face these challenges in an effective and healthy way.
Student Gabriely Rocha thought the topics covered were relevant, especially given the area of study chosen by the undergraduates. “In addition to our age group, which favors high levels of anxiety, there’s also doing science, which is, like it or not, exploring new, uncertain, insecure paths… This is also reflected in our lives. I think that opening up a dialog about anxiety is always very important,” she said.
