Retrospective 2025: lectures help build careers
Emotional intelligence, relationships and finances were the topics covered
The professional development of students goes beyond the technical mastery of mathematics. Knowing how to communicate ideas, recognize personal skills, manage time and build solid relationships are essential skills in today’s job market. With this in mind, NCE (Careers and Internships Center) promoted a series of workshops throughout 2025 aimed at strengthening soft skills. Take a look back at the highlights of the year.
The question “What is your talent?” opened the NCE’s 2025 activities in February. The activity sought to identify students’ strategic social and behavioral skills, guiding the self-analysis trail worked on throughout the year. Through interpersonal dynamics, the young people listed the skills they see most in their classmates. The aim was to recognize hidden talents and show undergraduates the skills they themselves end up overlooking.
In the following months, communication was the focus. Psychologist Thana Mondego, who specializes in People Management, led meetings on the power of communication and its different perspectives – effective, assertive, non-violent and non-verbal. As well as presenting techniques applicable to everyday life, she promoted reflection on how to express oneself with clarity and empathy. The meetings were held in March for the class 2024and in June for the class 2025.
A financial journey was the proposal for April. Financial expert Sebastião Campos Júnior gave a series of talks to the 2024 class throughout the month. The guest discussed the importance of managing money wisely, setting priorities and understanding the possibilities of small investments, encouraging students to develop financial autonomy.
In May, Thana returned to IMPA Tech for the talk “Time flies? Take control!”. Aimed at the 2024 class, the meeting covered the hierarchization of tasks, excessive demands, procrastination, distractions, the use of social networks and the impact on mental health. One of the highlights was the practical activity in which the students analyzed their own routine to differentiate “being busy” from “being productive”.
Starting in August, the workshops brought together students from both undergraduate classes. The first one, “Personal Relationships and Feedback”was led by Human Resources specialist Gisele Lima. The meeting worked on skills such as active listening, empathy, building trust and clear communication, showing that healthy relationships are fundamental for academic and professional growth.
In September, human development specialist Cíntia Gandarely conducted the workshop “Unveiling Emotional Intelligence as a differentiator in the job market”. The activity discussed the role of emotions in achieving results, helping students to identify and classify their feelings – as positive, challenging or neutral – and thus act more rationally and build solid relationships.
In October, the workshop “Personal Marketing and Presentation Techniques” concluded the cycle of meetings. Taught by Maria Claudia Nogueira and Tamires Klimko, specialists in finance, management and people, the event presented useful techniques for academic presentations and selection processes – experiences that the undergraduates will soon have.
Through the ongoing work of the NCE, IMPA Tech reinforces its commitment to training complete professionals, capable of combining technical excellence with emotional intelligence, effective communication and strategic career vision.
The students recognize the impact of the activities. “This kind of meeting helps us to understand what the job market requires and how we can present ourselves to companies in the future,” says Pedro Henrique Barbosa. For Daphny Santos, the workshops are an opportunity for personal growth: “I see the work of the NCE in a very positive light. It’s a chance to work on weaknesses and identify strengths.”
