Students take part in street race in downtown Rio de Janeiro
IMPA has partnered with the organization of the Rio Antigo Circuit to offer discounts

The center of Rio de Janeiro seen in motion. IMPA Tech students took part in the Cinelândia 2025 stage of the Old Rio CircuitThis Sunday (14). Tourist attractions such as the Municipal Theater and the National Library were on the route of the runners, who chose between three different distances.
The event was promoted by the NAP (Psychopedagogical Support Center) and IMPA’s Teaching department. Through a partnership with the race organizers, students received a discount on their registration fee. The aim of the activity was to promote well-being and stress reduction through body movement.
The initial idea came from student Jonas Alves. “I thought the NAP’s support for sport was very positive, because it encourages integration, well-being and quality of life in the community. It’s a way of showing that the institute values not only academic and professional development, but also people’s health and leisure,” he said.
Student Mariana Yoshioka was happy with her performance in the race. “It’s always good to take part, it really helps to regulate your health in general, both mentally and physically.” In May, also thanks to the support of the NAP, the young woman also took part in a street race for the first time, in the 1st Cury Circuit.
IMPA Tech’s external activities, both sporting and cultural, are part of the degree’s extracurricular program. They seek to promote an interdisciplinary education that values both technical and social skills. Students are invited to participate voluntarily in plays, visits to the museum and physical activities, among others.
