“Vértice”: Möbius Library Launches Newsletter for Internal Audience
A cultural contest determined the name of IMPA Tech’s new monthly newsletter
Starting in October, the IMPA Tech community will have a new way to stay up to date on undergraduate program news. The Möbius Library is launching a monthly newsletter that will bring together information on initiatives, projects, and events from the institute’s various departments. The newsletter’s name was chosen through a contest involving students, faculty, and staff.
The initiative received 48 name suggestions. Three of them were selected by an evaluation panel consisting of Nara Bobko, academic manager; Rafael Beraldo, skills development manager; and Francisco Silva, operations manager at IMPA Tech.
The finalist options were put to a vote by the academic community, which chose “Vértice: Where All Lines Meet”. The name was suggested by student Augusto Huff, winner of the cultural contest.
“The idea for the name came to me when I was thinking of something related to mathematics, but that would also be easy to understand. I wanted to represent the different perspectives that IMPA Tech brings together, both in pure mathematics and in computer science. So, I thought of ‘vertex,’” explained the student.
In recognition of his contribution, the student received a travel tag, a kit containing a notebook and pen from the IMPA Store, and the book *Selected Works* by Marcelo Viana, IMPA’s director-general.
