Workshop prepares students for internship interviews
NCE initiative strengthens young people’s training for the job market
The interview is a decisive stage in any internship or job selection process. With this in mind, IMPA Tech’s Careers and Internships Center (NCE) held a workshop on Thursday (16) to prepare students from the 2024 class. The young people experienced real interview simulations with psychologist Thana Mondego, a specialist in People Management.
The dynamic sought to explain to the students what recruiters are really looking for during a selection process, so that they are prepared when a good opportunity comes along. Through behavioral techniques, oratory and presentation dynamics, Thana showed that it is possible to stand out from the first contact with the company.
“Throughout the interview, you have to be vigilant, because you’re being assessed all the time. The recruiter observes the way you communicate, your posture, your interest, the clarity of your answers and your behavior,” she said. The speaker also gave practical tips, such as being truthful, avoiding memorized, artificial answers or simple examples, not arriving late, doing research on the company beforehand and interacting with the recruiter during the interview.
Beatriz Nunes, a Data Science student, took advantage of the workshop to learn more about selection processes. “I realized that they are challenging and require both technical knowledge and personal preparation. It’s important to better understand the market and develop professional positioning and socio-emotional skills, which make a big difference in everyday life,” she said.
Born in Rio Branco (AC), the young woman wants to go into the corporate market after completing her bachelor’s degree. “I’ve really enjoyed my degree, mainly because of its practical application and the possibilities in the job market. I intend to go into the data area, especially to work with visualization, which is an area of interest,” she added.
Leonardo Segheto, from Chapecó (SC), is thinking of continuing his studies with a master’s degree at IMPA. “I’m really enjoying the course and I’m happy that I can already do some subjects at IMPA. I’m still undecided about an area of work, but I intend to pursue an academic career,” he said.
A student with an emphasis on Mathematics, the young man highlighted the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) presented by the speaker. The interview technique consists of structuring answers about past experiences with concrete examples, focusing on demonstrating skills in a clear and objective way. “I found it very interesting and I intend to incorporate it into my answers from now on.”
The NCE has been working continuously with the students, reinforcing IMPA Tech’s commitment to training complete professionals, capable of combining technical excellence with emotional intelligence, effective communication and strategic career vision. In 2025, Thana promoted reflections on how to express yourself with clarity and empathy and led a workshop on time management.
